Importing bank files

CSV, QIF, OFX, MT940 and CAMT.053 — and how matching works.

Choose File ▸ Import Bank File… (⌥⌘I) and pick what your bank gave you. The format is detected from the file itself — CSV, QIF, OFX/QFX, SWIFT MT940/MT942 and ISO 20022 CAMT.053 are all read.

The review screen

Nothing is written until you say so. Each row shows what FinvestLens intends to do, and you can change the account, the category or the date before importing.

  • Rows you have already imported are marked as duplicates and skipped.
  • A payment that matches the other side of a transfer already in the book is completed rather than duplicated.
  • Rows nothing could categorise still import — parked in Imbalance for the Uncategorised review to sweep up later.

CSV columns

For CSV, tell FinvestLens which column is the date, description and amount. Save that as a profile and the next file from the same bank is set up for you.
